Makeup 4 the Weekend-- color challenge

I don't know how some of you talented crafters do it! I see these gorgeous cards with several challenges all in one card. My brain just doesn't do well with combining all the great challenges out there....if I do, it's usually pure accident. LOL!
I also don't know how you all decide which challenges to do. I was caught up with my projects for the week so I thought I'd participate in some challenges this weekend~ my goodness, there are so many great challenges out there that my head started to spin!!
I finally did eeny meany miney moe and decided to start with the Paper Makeup Challenge for the week~~ Makeup 4 the Weekend. It's a color challenge this week~ black, white, orange and purple.
Here's what I came up with~ I must admit I am not pleased with this at all. I have decided I am not smart enough to work a trimmer. Sigh. I just can't get straight cuts and then I hack at the image until there's nothing left. Sigh. I have one last hope, I'm going to purchase a guillotine trimmer next. If that doesn't work, I give up. LOL!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

Well, I like your card. I tend to trim my images close like that. I love the splash of color the DP gives and the swirly pattern goes very nicely with Marissa's skirt. :)

Hi Danni! love the bright colours on this card - and for a challenge I've not heard of, oh dear another one! I find difficulty trimming too, even with my guillotine.

I love your card Danni! Your not alone on your cutter problems! I go to this retreat with 20 some ladies that all talk about the same problem "The Cutter Problem" If anyone knows of a cutter that cuts straight like it suppose to...let us all know!
Have a great day,
Christine

I hear you with the trimmer - I don't think its you - I think they just get wonky over time. But I can't seem to give up my old Fiskars. I still seem to keep reaching for the same one.

Cute card - I love the scalloped edge with that DP.

I think it's adorable! What trimmer are you using now? I use the reg. Fiskars rotary and I LOVE it. It's the portable one not the huge one....let me know if you're interested I'll send you the link! I could never cut straight til I found this one either, LOL!!!!

This is so cute Danni! I love the colors!

I have to use a guillotine...otherwise, nothing is ever close to being right! The only other trimmer I use is the one that came with my Cricut Expression..it works pretty good, so I use it when I'm off cropping...if not for those...I might as well tear my cardstock with my teeth! LOL!

Lisa

Oh wow, love that bright and zingy paper, sets the scene for the card. Sorry you're not pleased with this, it looks great in the photo.

I struggle with my paper trimmer when matting. I use a rotary cutter, mat and ruler for most of mine and find it easier to be accurate. I already had them because I quilt, I keep a different cutter for paper. Is it worth giving this a try Danni, if you have them?
