I was inspired! by me!!

I am trying a new way of blogging, via Windows Live Writer. I know many of my blogging friends use it so I thought I’d try it. Bear with me if things aren’t quite right..hehe!

I also apologize for the mulitple posts today~ I was going to wait to post this but wanted to see how the live writer did so I decided to post it today. Please scroll down to see my Makeup 4 The Weekend Post and my Bellarific Friday Post! Thanks!

Anyhoo, I was inspired by my post here to use this quilt/patchwork style to make more than backgrounds!

See these cute little butterflies? How fun, no?

Here’s how I did them and you can do it with punches, die cuts, etc!!

First I started with my piles  mountains of scraps, some punches and adhesive!

I chose a piece of cardstock for my base.

Next I started punching squares from my scraps of designer paper. When punching the squares, I found for your finished punch/die cut etc, you need to think of the size of the punches squares~~for example for the SU Top Note Die I used my 1 1/4 size square punch as it was a bigger die cut. For the SU Butterfly punch I used my 1 inch square punch…got it?

For my sample here I used my 1 inch punch. For those of you with kiddos, this might be a fun project for them to help with!

Next you adhere all the squares to your base cardstock. This is much easier if you have a xyron machine, which I don’t. Just make sure they are stuck down really well.

You’ll end up with a piece like this.

From here you can run it through your die cut machine or punch. If using punches, they need to be sturdier punches to go through all the paper. Also it helps to flip the punch upside down so you can see where you’re punching to line up the “patchwork”. Like this~

For my butterflies, I punched another butterfly out of cardstock for a base. Then you could add glitter, stickles, Viva Decor products, diamond glaze, etc for extra “pop”.

Here’s one more example using a Sizzix flower die~

Hope this inspires you to create something fun today!
