Fancy

I had a dream about this stamp, Fancy from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD,  so I figured that was a sign to get it inky..LOL! Yes, I dream of my stamps often, guess that proves that this is truly my passion/obsession.

 

The name always makes me think of one of my favorite songs by Reba McEntire , Fancy. I was lucky enough to see Reba perform this live in concert one time when she still changed costumes for each song and had props, etc. One of the best concerts I ever saw!

Just playing around today with a new digi, Heartsy Mae, from Some Odd Girl and a Taylored Expressions Key Ingredient Kit from January 2011.

  

I also wanted to say thank you to those of you who have continued to visit and leave me comments! I truly appreciate it! I haven’t had a chance to visit lately as I’ve been spending time with Sam and the kids as he is leaving for a month beginning Monday. He’ll still be in the States and I will be able to talk to him almost daily so it’s all good, but I’m a bit out of practice..LOL!

Valentine Swap Cards

I don’t know what possessed me but I signed up for a swap on one of the yahoo groups I’m in. I needed to make 5 cards--they can be the same or different (I chose the same, which is rare for me)-- with a Valentine theme, using ribbon and the sketch provided. I would’ve been fine, I think, with the Valentine theme and ribbon but the sketch threw me but anyhoo, I didn’t want to be a flaker so I did my best, although I am going to be late with these so I still might be a flaker, sigh.

Iris in Pink

Finally having a moment to sit down and get one of the images I used in my masking tutorial onto a card! This is the sweet Iris from the Spring Flora Fairies.

For this sweet fairy I sponged ink around her when she was all masked off. I think it gives it a nice effect.

Before I get to my creation today I wanted to share that I have a tutorial on the SCACD store blog, Follow Your Heart, so be sure to head on over there and check it out (I used some adorable fairies for the tutorial!!).

This week our challenge at FBW is to use embossing-any kind, with our butterfly, fairy or angel. Here’s what I came up with using 3 Wishes from Sylvia Zet for SCACD, which is discounted right now!! My embossing is hard to see but I embossed the scallop circle behind the image and the die cut leaves with a Cuttlebug embossing folder--I then went over the embossing with a VersaMark ink pad to try and make the embossing more noticeable.

Getting into the groove

It seems like forever since I sat down to create, almost a week, ack!! I had to remedy that--right away!

With the power outage we moved Jade, my parakeet, downstairs so she’d be warm and with us. Turns out she really enjoys being downstairs with everyone so we decided to leave her down there. I miss her in my craft room but man, she sings and chirps up a storm now so it’s all good!

With her in mind it made me think of this cute stamp, New Friends by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD and I thought it was the perfect stamp to get me back into the crafting mode!!

Whew….

Well, I wanted snow…I got snow, around 7-9 inches of snow. And then we got ice. Lots of ice. And then we lost power…for 40 hours!! Eek!! Just got it back on today so now I’m playing catch up so bear with me for a few days while I get back in the swing of things.

And can I just say that even though we did fine and it wasn’t horrible…I definitely can say I LOVE having electricity and all my gadgets!! hehe!!

Little Miss Muffet Challenge #27

When I won the Little Miss Muffet Challenge, not only did I win some cute digi’s but also the chance to be a guest designer for their next challenge…which is today!!

The challenge is to use the colors~ Blues and Creams. I’m more of a “white” gal so the cream was a challenge but it does make such a pretty combo.

Here’s what I came up with using one of my new digi’s, Camila. I used Smooch Illuminate on her legs to make it look like she has tights on, although I couldn’t capture the shimmer in the photo, sigh.
