Happy Birthday Kris!!

It's Krista Palakiko's birthday today and a few of us are throwing her a surprise birthday blog hop.  If you've come here from Berenice's blog then you are on the right path, but if you just popped in you might want to hop on over to the beginning at the Lollipop Crafts blog.  Why?  Well one lucky hopper will win a SURPRISE PRIZE!  All you need to do is hop along to each friend’s blog, leave some love, then head back to the Lollipop Crafts blog and let them know you completed the hop.  Who knows maybe along the way some of Kris' friends might be giving away RAKS of their own, so make sure you stop and give some love to everyone.  The winner will be announced on Sunday, March 18th.

**If you get lost along the way the MASTER LIST is on the Lollipop Crafts Blog.

Happy Birthday sweet Kris!! I hope your day is filled with lots of love and happiness! Here’s my card to you (that I didn’t get mailed yet so be surprised when you open it, okay?)

SCS Featured Stamper-My friend Harriet!

I’ve always wanted to play along with some of the challenges on SCS (SplitCoast Stampers) but never really took the time to figure them out and what not, but it’s always been in the back of my mind to jump in sometime.

Well that time was today when my Flutter By Team Member, Harriet was chosen as the Featured Stamper!! Yay Harriet!! I’ve always adored Harriet’s work, her clean and simple style that just amazes me so I just had to play along. I just hope I do it right! LOL!

In order to play along you have to look at Harriet’s Gallery and find a card to CASE. Then you change 2 or more things from her card and tell what you changed, and of course give credit to Harriet for her original card. Sounds easy enough, right?

I spent a good amount of time in Harriet’s gallery, so many fabulous cards! It was hard to chose one to CASE but finally I decided it only fitting that I chose a FBW card.  I chose THIS CARD.

I changed the papers, added a scalloped circle and changed the border punch. Also changed the rhinestones to pearls.

Let the creativity flow…

Have you ever been in a creative rut? That’s what has been going on with me lately. I’ve been blogging for years, making cards for years, the same kind of things..for years.  I thought a few breaks would help and in a way they did but I still just felt blah when it came to creating.

I have been challenged to improve my coloring skills and that has helped a little bit. But I still felt in a rut. Crazy thoughts crossed my mind like I should stop blogging, stop creating. But I knew in my heart that wasn’t going to happen, I love to create.

And then Susana got some new products in. And I rolled my eyes as they are more “mixed media” type products. Not for me I said. As I’ve always said about mixed media/altered/Tim Holtz type products/styles-not for me.

And then I tried a few of the new products.

I can’t explain the sparks that started flying in my brain. The happy giddy giggles I use to get that started to come out.  The desire to create and play and create came back with a force.

So instead of continuing to label myself..I gave myself permission to embrace it and let it flow. I even signed up for an online class with Tim Holtz!

I’m excited! and the biggest thing is that I want to create again! I may not fully embrace the total mixed media/grunge type style but I can find my own fun, Danni style!

So I hope you’ll stick with my on my new creativity journey!

Here’s my first project using my most favorite glitter paints and templates.

Brella Fairy

My printed folder of digi’s is overflowing so I thought I’d better remedy that by getting some of them colored and onto cards. The first image that screamed at me was this Brella Fairy from Some Odd Girl!

I think I was trying to hard on my coloring on this image. Practicing things I’m learning in the Created From Color class. Sigh…I guess that’s how you learn though is to keep practicing, trying and learning. It’s not horrible but it’s not as I pictured it either!

When looking for a layout idea I remembered that the current challenge at Some Odd Girl is a sketch so I decided to give it a go!

FBW #193- Babette The Bunny

Wednesday means it’s time to flutter!! Be sure to visit the Flutter By Wednesday Challenge blog to see how you can play along with us this week!!

Be sure to visit the Flutter By Team too for lots of great inspiration!! Links are on my sidebar.

I want to take a moment to wish Amanda the best of luck as she is leaving us this week. I will still be stalking her blog though as she is just so talented!!

This week we are sponsored by Robyn’s Fetish. The Flutter By Team were given some digi’s to work with and I chose this cute Babette The Bunny for my card today as our challenge this week is to use the theme of Spring Time and of course, your butterfly, fairy or angel.

Hard to believe that Easter is right around the corner!! Another pretty simple card since I printed the digi so big but I still think it turned out sweet.
