Birthday Lulu

I’ll admit it. I squealed in delight when I saw that SCACD got the new Birthday Lulu set in from Kraftin’ Kimmie! I think this set is just so darling and I couldn’t wait to ink it up!
I inked up Lulu with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin markers. I cut her out with my nestabilities and added a few doodles around the edge before removing the die with my copic multi-liner .03. I used My Mind’s Eye-On the Sunny Side for my paper.

I found some butterflies to add, a few touches of stickles for some sparkle and some Kaisercraft rhinestones helped to finish the card.

Before I go I have to tell you that SCACD is simply ROCKING the new CHA goodies!! Lots of GORGEOUS-MUST HAVE- paper-HERE, new Teresa Collins stamps-HERE and Teresa Collings washi tape- HERE! Lots more awesome goodies coming soon so keep checking the store and happy shopping!!!

The Pink Elephant Challenge #157

Time for another Pink Elephant Challenge!! Be sure to visit the blog to see how you can play along and to see the other fabulous DT creations!!
This week our challenge is to use the color ORANGE! I’ll admit I use to not be too fond of the color orange but now I’ve learned to embrace it and even like it quite a bit.
I inked up Little Dianne from Victoria Case for SCACD with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers. I found an older paper pad from TAC, Brighten My Day that I paired up with Little Dianne.

I masked her and then sponged some blue ink around her just to make her stand out a bit more. I probably should’ve done a different hair color, didn’t think about it until it was done. To finish the card I added a border with a punch, some butterflies and of course, sparkle with some stickles.

Hope you’ll join us at The Pink Elephant Challenge this week!

The Pink Elephant Challenge #156

Time for another Pink Elephant Challenge!! Be sure to visit the blog to find out how you can play along with us and to see the other DT’s creations!
This week our challenge is Christmas In July! Never to early to start on those holiday cards, right?

I chose Winter Wonder from Sylvia Zet for SCACD to get inky as this poor stamp hasn’t seen any ink--just such a shame as it’s sooo adorable!! I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers. I paired the image with Basic Grey Jovial.

I added Sparkly Fluff to her hat, coat, boots and her little bear friend’s hat. Then some glitter for the snow and finally stickles on her bow and candle. I added a flower and some branch punch outs to finish the card.

Hope you’ll join us this week at The Pink Elephant Challenge!

Little Lily

I’ll admit it. I squealed with delight when I saw this week’s challenge at Dutch Dare Card Challenges-- Flutterby Butterfly!! I have been missing Flutter By Wednesday’s so I knew I had to play along!
I stamped one of the new Susana Loves Stamps- Little Sassy Crew, Little Lily in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin markers. I cut her out and paired her with My Mind’s Eye-Miss Caroline-Dolled Up papers.

I cut the oval out using my nestabilities and then embossed it with my Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder.  I used several dies including Memory Box Moonlight Butterfly and Kaleidoscope Butterfly and Dies by SCACD- Garden Corners.

As I was finishing the card I noticed that the oval with the embossing sort of blended into everything so I added a bit of sparkle to it using Luminarte Silk Glaze in Ice. The final touches were some Kaisercraft pearls, stardust pen touches and finishing the inside.

For my layout I used this week’s sketch from The Sweet Stop~

Hope that all my friends in the USA have a safe and happy 4th of July!

The Pink Elephant #154

It’s time for another challenge at The Pink Elephant!! Be sure to visit the blog to see how you can play along and to see all of Ella’s girls creations!
This week we have a fun sketch~

Here’s what I came up with using Sweet Whispers from Victoria Case for SCACD. I stamped the sweet image in Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored it with copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers. I also masked the image and sponged some blue around the image. I paired the image with fun papers from My Mind’s Eye-On The Sunny Side.

I finished the card by adding some Kaisercraft rhinestones, punched butterflies and stickles. I have to say that I love the Zots for Bling glue dots--they are tiny but hold well! Sometimes it’s hard to find something for those small items!!
Hope you’ll join us this week at The Pink Elephant Challenge!

Be…Original

Things are starting to come together for me as far as finding a balance between everything. Next week will be a bit challenging as one of the girls at work will be gone on vacation so I’ll be working several days in a row but after that we should settle nicely into a good routine.

I’m feeling less overwhelmed too so that is always a good sign. I truly do love working at Curves though and am happy I made the choice to try/get the job.

With that being said, I feel like some of my creativity mojo is coming back as it left for a little bit. So I had to grab it while I can and sat down to play with the last SCACD release, The Blank Canvas Collection. I know many of you say the “mixed media” isn’t for you but I think you’d be surprised how fun these stamps and this style is--there are no rules, you just create and have fun. I am truly embracing it and loving it! Dare ya to try it!!

blankcanvaswomana

I started by stamping Blank Canvas Woman with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto my cardstock and then also onto an old book page.  I colored the skin and hair with copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin markers and then cut her out.

Next I cut out the dress part from the book page and made a watercolor out of Yellow Rose Luminarte Primary Elements Mica Powder and Gum Arabic and painted over the book page. I had some extra of the watercolor mixture so I painted a scrap piece of cardstock, just in case I wanted to use it for a die cut or something. Once the dress was dry I touched up the black lines with an old fine tip marker I had--I sort of had a blob on one side but decided to leave it as I thought it added character and then I glued it to the woman using ScrapPerfect Best Glue Ever--I like this glue so much when working with things that make paper curl as it really holds them down.

Next I stamped the word Original from the Authentic Words Set onto my card front in Archival Jet Black ink. I handwrote “be” in front of Original. I stamped the Rays in VersaMark ink and then dusted more of the Yellow Rose Luminarte Primary Elements Mica Powder over it. I also wanted the edges to have some sparkle to them so I repeated this process by inking up the edges with VersaMark and then dusting on the mica powder.

To finish the card I just used the scrap cardstock that I watercolored and die cut a corner using one of the new Dies by SCACD- Garden Corner. A pretty clean and simple mixed media card..hehe!!

Flora the Cyclist

Continuing on with bike week, I just had to ink up my new Uptown Girl from Stamping Bella, Flora the Cyclist that I got at SCACD! What..you didn’t know that SCACD carried the Uptown Girls, yes they do! Susana gets the best stamps in!!
I must admit that while I love this stamp, I giggled pondering it--the bike has no pedals and how would Flora pedal in those high heels? hehe!
florathecyclista
I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers. I added a few subtle sparkle touches with copic glitter pens.
I used my Basic Grey Picadilly paper. I see that SCACD doesn’t have this particular 6x6 paper pad anymore but there are lots of other ones to choose from so check them out-HERE!
florathecyclistaside
Since the stamp is so large I didn’t add too many elements to distract from it. A few butterflies I found in my Picadilly pad, a corner from the new Dies by SCACD--this is one of the Classic Corners- which I added some Smooch in Kiwi to for some shimmer, some stickles, Kaisercraft pearls  and a few other finishing touches = one finished card!
I also have to share my good news! I start today as an employee at Curves! I’m super excited about it! Very part time, only 10-15 hours a week which is perfect for me. I can’t wait to help other women on their journey to being healthy!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #148

I really liked the sketch this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches so I thought I’d play along. Here’s the sketch~
TMS #148
The first thing I did was pick out a nestabilities die that was the right size and then go to finding my image! I decided to use Come Hither Eyes from Susana Loves Stamps as she would “sit” perfectly on my circle.
Not sure why the colors are so off in the photo but it’s really a yellow that matches the designer paper not orange.
comehithereyesa
comehithereyesaside
I chose my papers first and they are My Mind’s Eye-Indie Chic-Nutmeg (which is 10% off right now at SCACD!!). Then I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers.  Then I carefully cut her out. To finish the card I added some Kaisercraft pearls, stickles  and a few other touches. I skipped the sentiment because it just didn’t look right to me with her legs in the way.
Also letting you all know that I’ve started another blog where I can discuss and share tips/etc. on the Journey to A Healthier Me! It’s really becoming such a big part of me that I hope to help encourage or inspire others!

Dutch Dare Card Challenge #166

I haven’t played along with a challenge for a while so I thought maybe I’d find a few to play along with this weekend. The first one to catch my eye was The Dutch Dare Card Challenge #166 which is a sketch~
dutchdare166
I decided to use my newest Pure Innocence Giraffe Girl. I think she’s a doll. For once I made sure she’d fit in my nestabilities oval before I started, I don’t know how many times I set out to do a sketch and then choose an image too big for the circle/oval. LOL! I have to admit I had an ulterior motive for choosing this stamp…when I was doing the Basic Grey week I found the cutest giraffe/flamingo paper in the Basic Grey Sugared paper so I just “had” to pair it up with Giraffe Girl!
giraffegirla
giraffegirlaside
I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers. I also masked her and sponged some ink to add a little more depth/interest. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black also.
To finish the card I added some buttons, scrappers floss, and stickles! I also found an older Cuttlebug embossing border so I tried it out. Amazing what you find when you look around in your crafty area!
Have a great day! and for my US friends, Happy Memorial Day--remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Kissing Booth

A bit late with my last Basic Grey post but still wanted to get one more card in for my Basic Grey week! It was fun to base my cards off the paper this week!
Today I’m using Basic Grey Kissing Booth. So pretty with all it’s pinks!! Next came the fun part of what stamp to use with it! When I was looking for what stamp to use the super cute Loli’s Dance from Sylvia Zet for SCACD yelled out that she hadn’t been inked up and she’d love to be- so who was I to argue!
I inked her up with Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored her with copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin markers. She just makes me feel like doing a fan dance--if I knew how! LOL!
To help finish off the card I used a Petaloo flower and a few punches from my cute Fiskars Scroll punch.  I added some sparkle with stickles and an edge of Viva Decor Glitter Liner because you can never have too much sparkle! ohh and I added a few Kaisercraft rhinestones too!

Hope you’re having a great weekend! We have no plans so I’m hoping to get lots of crafting in! Thanks for coming by and thanks for the sweet comments! This week I got sidetracked and didn’t leave many comments but next week I should be back on track!
~Did you know that SCACD carries lots of Maya Road Chipboard? Some super fun designs with lots of possibilities--HERE!!

PB & J

Nooo…not the sandwich PB & J--although that is one of my favorites, the Basic Grey paper PB & J is what I chose to work with today!
I thought the super cute By The Beach Peeker from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD would be fun to get inky with this paper. I don’t know about you but I still like to play with shovels and pails with sand and water! LOL!
bythebeachpeekera
Isn’t it amazing how something so simple as stamping the image inside and adding a strip of patterned paper really finishes the card! I know I’m not the first to do this and I can’t remember who I saw doing this first to give credit but I sure do like this technique!

The Keys to Her Caged Heart

I’ve been saving my “negative spaces” lately with the intention of playing around with them, some Luminarte products and who knows what else. Well, figured today was as good as day as any to just sit and play and see what happens.

negativespaces

Pretty rare when I don’t have a plan when I sit down to create, so this was a new experience for me. But a fun experience I must say!

I started with a circle negative space and brushed Harvest Sol Silk over it. I waited for it to dry and then used another negative space that fit inside the circle and brushed some Indian Copper mica powder mixed with multi-medium gloss over that (next time I’ll use more contrasting colors). Next I took my Jet Black Archival ink and stamped with the Prima Keys stamp to create a pattern.

Next I cut out my shiny fun circle with nestabilities and then finished my card using Her Caged Heart from Carmen Medlin for SCACD. After I finished my card I thought of a million other things I should’ve/could’ve done--anyone else do that? I have lots of other ideas rolling around for my negative spaces so stay tuned..hehe!

A thank you card

Happy National Scrapbooking day!! I don’t know that I’ll get any actual scrappin’ done today but I sure hope to get some crafting in this afternoon!

Today I’m going out to lunch with the ladies from Curves--the employees, owner and some of the members. I’m really looking forward to it and am excited to get to know everyone better.

I wanted to make a card for the employees/owner to just say thank you for all their kindness and support so here’s what I came up with using Marianne from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD!

Designed To Color Challenge #1

There’s a new crafty magazine in town, Designed To Color, and they are also starting to have challenges so I thought I’d play along with their first challenge which is to use rolled flowers on your project.
I used one of the latest Peeker stamps from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD. This is Puppy Peeker--way too adorable!! My rolled flowers were cut out on my Cricut using my CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge. I’ve always had issues finding an adhesive to hold the flower in place after I roll it but this time I didn’t have any trouble and I used ScraPerfect’s Best Glue Ever.

I thought about it after I was finished coloring that I should’ve written down my copic/ShinHan colors but I just didn’t think of it. I don’t know why I have such a hard time with that!
