Sketch Sunday- Cute Cacti

You guessed it, another series. LOL! I'm just having the best time crafting lately! I'm not sure how long I'll keep all these going but for now I'm just going to have fun!

My Sketch Sunday is just what it sounds like, make a card using a sketch! This week I'm using the Sweet Sunday Sketch #70!

I decided to use my Cute Cacti stamp set and dies from Whimsy Stamps. I also used the Whimsy Stamps Festive Desert 6x6 Paper Pack instead of the swirly design on the sketch. I'm not sure my design is exactly like the sketch but at least the sketch gave me inspiration!

I think this would be a fun birthday card so I put the sentiment "celebrate" on it.

I couldn't wait to color up some of the fairies from Fairy Folk so that's what I decided to use. I kept the card pretty simple with just some inked clouds in the circle to put the fairies by and a sentiment.

Twinkly Wishes

I have to say that I had so much fun with this card! I started putting it all together to color for Day 8 of The 30 Day Coloring Challenge but then I loved it so much I had to put the entire card together!

I just got an order from 7 Kids Craft Store and in it was the stamp set, Flower Field from The Greeting Farm. I just had to play with it! It was so fun to put together a little scene using the flowers and then I added a little fairy from the Fairy Happy set.

I used a stamp from The Greeting Farm, Hi Anya, on this card. I like the effect I got from sponging on ink using torn paper as a stencil of sort.

A little autumn thank you card to share today that I created for a swap.

I colored up the little bunny and then masked her off and sponged on some distress oxide ink. Always fun to switch up the backgrounds of images a bit!

Always be a mermaid!

Another card for a swap! This one the theme is Sparkle and Shine! If you know me at all you know that I LOVE sparkle so I just had to join in the fun!

I used the super cute Mermaids set from C.C. Designs for my card and of course added lots of sparkle!! You can't see from the photo but I added Wink of Stella to the fish in the background, stickles to the mermaid and a touch of Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen on part of the mermaid too. 

I got the idea for using the fish from the uber talented Amy Young. You can see one of her cards where she used the fish HERE!

A friend recently lost her father so I wanted to send a card to let her know I was thinking of her. 

I used an older SU set, Upsy Daisy. I embossed the flowers in white and then sponged ink over them. 

I think it turned out pretty and hope it will let my friend know she's not alone, that I'm thinking of her.

Have you ever had a card go in a totally different direction than when you started it? That's what happened with this card! It just kept evolving! In the end I think it turned out pretty cute!!

The panel with the wheat (?) was colored using SU Watercolor Pencils and a blender pen on watercolor paper. The cute girl was colored with copics. It was fun to add different coloring methods to the same card!

I also sponged ink on the embossed background to make it stand out a bit more. This was a fun card to watch come together!

You make me happy

I have almost always stayed away from color challenges or even just color inspiration in general because I thought it would be too difficult to create something. Silly, I know. Lately I've been trying to do a variety of cards and techniques instead of all the things in my comfort zone so I decided to play around with color. I love color. I really, really do! 

In looking at some current challenges I saw that The Paper Players had a color challenge this week so I decided to dive in and play along!

My friend Alicia made a watermelon card recently that was adorable so it inspired me to make one too!

I used some neglected dies for this card. I always forget to sponge ink onto my die cuts but I remembered today and did a comparison between inked and uninked...wow! It really does add so much!!

This was a fun card to create! A little different for me to not be using many stamps but that's good, it helps to shake things up often!

(it was a hard card to photograph but hopefully you get the idea!)

At the end of December I had made a goal for myself to use up some 6x6 paper pads that have been on my craft table forever! (and yes, I could just move them or "gasp" get rid of them but the hoarder in me just can't). Then the whole mess with my ankle happened so I sort of forgot about it.

Today I decided to work on that goal as I'm tired of these being on my craft table with just scraps in them. The first one I'm working on finishing up is Basic Grey's Wisteria.

I guess I'm in a fairy mood lately as I used more cute fairies on this card! They are just so cute!!
