Stampin' Up Sunday- This Little Piggy

Welcome to another Stampin' Up Sunday!! So glad you're here!

I had originally planned on featuring some more holiday stamps but I just needed a break from holiday cards so today I'm going to feature a super duper cute stamp set, This Little Piggy!

On this first card I used my copics to color the piggy!

On this card I used the Stampin' Write Markers as watercolors to color the scene. Powder Pink is the perfect color for the piggy!!

A little tip for today~ This stamp set is so adorable but I felt it could be more versatile if the sentiments were separate from the piggy's so I carefully (very super carefully0 cut them apart. Voila' much more versatile stamps!

Have a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Best Thoughts

I've been in a bit of a rut with creating lately so I decided this week to do something different, something fun! I decided to give watercoloring a whirl! I have only tried this once before, and that was before I really knew much about it so I'm counting this as the first time. LOL!

I used my Stampin' Up markers for my watercoloring this time around. I scribbled them on an old CD case and then used a paintbrush with water to pick up the color and color my image.

I must admit that I enjoyed this process/technique way more than I expected to! I love the end result as it's softer and more forgiving than the copics are. Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up my copics but am adding different styles/techniques. For an early birthday present I am also getting the new Zig Clean Color Markers. I am super excited about those!

So enough rambling...here's my first watercolor project!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll come back again soon!! Also for those of you interested in the Flutter By Blog Hop, I'll post more info on that soon!

Watercoloring with markers

I know somewhere online I saw a tutorial on using markers with an aquaflow brush to create a watercolor effect. I can't find it now but thank you to whomever it was that put it out!

I tried it today since I just got my aquaflow brushes. I colored on a cd case with my markers, Impress Markers, and then picked up the color with the aquaflow brush and colored.

How fun! I still need to practice but I was so pleased to have another way to use my markers.

Just for fun, I colored one image with just the markers so I could compare.

Off to play around some more......
