A little of this, a little of that...

I think my creativity is slowly working it's way back to me. I am finally starting to visualize cards again in my head and I'm getting that "itch" to stamp so I take these as great signs! I'm hoping to maybe sit down tonight and see if I can accomplish anything!

It's been a rough week here. Freckles (our 6 year old Jack Russell/Beagle mix dog) was diagnosed last Wednesday with a malignant tumor on her leg. Long story short, we are not going to do surgery because of where it's located but going to try some medication and just make her as comfortable and happy for as long as we can. 

Right now she's still not showing any signs of being in pain or being uncomfortable so that's good. It's still devastating to all of us as we love her so much.

I've also been busy at work and coming home pretty wiped out each night but that's a good sign. I still love my job and in a month or so will have been there a year!! 

I miss blogging. Seems like so many people, me included, have gotten so caught up on social media that blogging takes a backseat. I miss it. I've met so many wonderful crafters through my blog and well, I just enjoy it, hoping to get back to it more.

Sew Easy Giveaway

I am trying to get rid of things that I just don't use and figured it would be fun to give some of it away.

Uptown Girls Pattie and Dottie-Friends Forever

I think the new Uptown Girls are just so fun! I guess I really liked this one as I ended up with 2! So you know what that means…yup, time to give one of them away!! Details at the end of this post!

I got my Uptown Girls Pattie and Dottie-Forever Friends at SCACD--did you know that SCACD carries the Uptown Girls?

I inked them up with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with my copics and ShinHan Art Touch Twin Markers.

I paired them up with Basic Grey Konnichiwa paper. I thought their boa needed some fun so I added some sparkly fluff to it. For my border on the striped strip I used my Classic Corner die from Dies by SCACD. I added some paper piercing, another Classic Corner die, some sparkle with stickles and a few Kaisercraft pearls to finish the card.

Here’s a quick peek at the inside of the card too--just stamped the image in a light colored ink, one of my favorite techniques (sure wish I could remember who I got that idea from) and then stamped the sentiment in a darker color.

I loved reading all the answers to my question about trends and such.

For me, it’s not really a surprise that I’m a follower. I like to follow the trends…but for the wrong reasons I fear. I’ve done some soul searching after this last little mojo-less spell and I discovered some things.

When I started my blog, I made myself a goal to make a name for myself in the crafting/blog world. I think I’ve accomplished that goal…only problem is that I started comparing myself to others.

There are so many talented crafters out there and well, I’ll admit it, I wanted to be like them and so…I went shopping happy. Maybe if I create with “this  company’s stamps or this paper or these flowers” I’ll be liked more or be like so-and-so more. So silly I know, but it was so easy to get so caught up in it all!

The thing that made me realize what I was doing is how unhappy I was when I was creating. I didn’t like alot of my cards because I was forcing myself to try to be someone I wasn’t.

Well, after lots and lots of thought and such…I’m happy to report..I’m me! LOL! I’ve cut my spending in half--still working on it and I am back to creating in my style--I like clean and simple cards with a few embellishments--occasionally more. I like my coloring and even though I continue to learn more techniques with it--it doesn’t matter that I don’t color like someone else!

I like using supplies I have--don’t get me wrong, I’ll still be buying new things--but for the right reasons, that I like them, not to be like or be liked by someone!

This last week I have had FUN again in creating and have really liked my cards again…isn’t that what this is all about?? I hope I don’t get lost again and forget that!

This has been a rough couple weeks for me...depression, migraine-yesterday and today--and just always having that "never caught up" feeling....well, enough is enough! 

I decided today that it's time to do more happy things, which involves more creating, more commenting/visiting your blogs, and more happy thoughts--wheee...where's my pixie dust from Tink so I can fly??

Oops, got sidetracked there...anyhoo...one happy thing I thought of is BLOG CANDY!! Anyone out there like blog candy?? • Daisy, our "puppy" who is about 7-8 months old, also had shots this week and she is already at 38 lbs! I think she's going to be a big girl! I love my pets!
• The weather here in the desert is finally starting to cool down a bit so I indulged in a Pumpkin Spice Latte for the first time from Starbucks..oh my...soooo yummy!

It's the couch's fault...

I had grand plans to stamp yesterday and get ahead on projects and such but well, the couch held me hostage. It even had the nerve to make me close my eyes for long periods of time. LOL!

Hope you have a great Monday!! My kids are going back to school today after two weeks off so now maybe I can get back in the routine of leaving comments and such...there just aren't enough hours in the day!
