My Umbrella

Since our weather is turning cloudy and gloomy with a chance of rain, I thought this cutie, My Umbrella, from the Pure Innocence line at MFT would be perfect.
I stamped the umbrella twice on white cardstock and once on the designer paper, cut them out so there would be some dimension. 
I tried a clean and simple style for this week's Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential challenge.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential #18

I thought it would be fun to play along with a few challenges this weekend if I can get motivated, my couch is pretty comfy again, LOL!

I thought this week's Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential sounded lots of fun, you are to use things from "around the house", like saftey pins, paper clips, etc. on your creations. Plus it's sponsored this week by one of my favorite artists, Victoria Case.

I thought it only fitting to use a Victoria Case image so I chose Jami from the Hearts and Hugs Series 2 for SCACD. It seems especially fitting for me today as Sam emailed me today and we had an email/messenger conversation about maybe getting a puppy sometime this year. Possibly a little mini girl Australian Shepherd in about 6 months or so. He was so set on no more dogs but knows how much I still miss Heidi and it seems so weird without two dogs so he asked his buddies and found this one for us. I love that man!

Okay enough mush, onto the card~ for my household item I used staples.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential #15

This weeks challenge at Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential is to~ Let the sunshine in~ use bright colors or mostly yellow on your creations. 
I have to giggle as there use to be a time when I didn't like yellow or orange. My friend Carla, helped me "see the light" and get so I like those colors but I still think of her everytime I use them as they are her favorites.
I didn't think I liked the Lulu line at Stamping Bella when I first saw them but they have grown on me and I was excited to receive a few in the mail today from my friend, Jennie (thank you so much) so I had to ink one up!!

Snow Day

Living in the desert, we don't see snow that often. Sam and I miss it but I have to admit, I don't miss shoveling the walks or driving in it. I do really miss playing in it though.
We've lived here for about 4 years and in that time we've had snow maybe 3 or 4 times. Only a few of those times was it on the ground long enough to play in.
So you can imagine how excited my kids are that today there is snow in the forecast....around mid-day...so there is a possiblity of a snow day!! I truly hope it snows at least a bit or they will be so disappointed.
With that on my mind I thought that MFT's new Pure Innocence Snow Day would be the perfect image for my card today. 
As I was looking through my "saved" challenges looking for a sketch, I realized this card also qualifies for this week's Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential-SSHP09, use an image with a hat. I also used an older MFT SCS sketch, MFTSC77.

What I did:
I stamped my image onto my cardstock with memento ink and colored her with copics. I used my nesties to cut out the image and then sponged the edges before removing the die. I picked out my papers, which was a challenge for this color of purple/violet. I embossed both the white cardstock base and the light violet piece with my cuttlebug embossing folders and then sponged ink over them both lightly. 
I used punches to punch out the squares of designer paper and snowflake. I finished the card by adding some glitter for the snow, a few embellishments and touches with my copic glitter pens. I decided I wanted to finish the inside of the card too. I used the negative space of the snowflake punch to sponge some snowflakes and then stamped the sentiment. Hard to photograph as it's very light.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential #1
