OCC Sketch Challenge

I thought the sketch this week at Our Creative Corner was a fun one and thought I'd play along.

I decided to use this cutie from the C.C. Designs Sugarplums Spring Kit...sticking with my rain theme for this weekend I guess. LOL!  I think my attention span is too short for these company themed weekends so my weekend crew and I are working on a new plan. It makes it fun to have friends creating with ya--even if it's only online!

I loved how Dawn did the red hair on her gorgeous card so it inspired me to do a red-head.

My Umbrella

Since our weather is turning cloudy and gloomy with a chance of rain, I thought this cutie, My Umbrella, from the Pure Innocence line at MFT would be perfect.
I stamped the umbrella twice on white cardstock and once on the designer paper, cut them out so there would be some dimension. 
I tried a clean and simple style for this week's Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential challenge.

I'm so sad...

Sniff, sniff, sob, sob, whine, whine....can you hear me all the way where you are? I'm just so sad.. it had to happen sometime, but why now? Yes, it's true, I had to say goodbye to my favorite crafting chair. 
Last night was when it happened. I was sitting happily coloring away when the amusement park ride started--one minute you're up and the next you're down, without warning. While it was fun the first few times, it then became annoying and umm,dangerous. 
So then I got one of my hard dining room table chairs. Even with a blanket, it's just not comfy and the worst...it has no wheels! I mean, come on, now I have to get up to get everything instead of going wheeee....and rolling there. 
I tried our other computer chair but it was almost as dangerous as it's too big for my area and things were being knocked off shelves and such...not pretty on a tile floor. 
So here I am, trying to create but I miss my chair. Sniff, sniff....
Okay, so I know it's not really that bad but man, never realized how much I liked that chair!
Off to work on a card to share later...hope your day is going good and I am keeping all of the people in Chile and other places affected by the earthquake, tsunami in my thoughts and prayers! Be safe!

Stamp Something Recipe Challenge

I saw on Vicki's blog a new challenge (well new to me), Stamp Something! This week's challenge is a recipe one~~ you have to use designer paper, button(s) and ribbon. Sounded easy enough for me so thought I'd try and play along!
The "weekend crew" (links on my sidebar) and myself are using MFT stamps this weekend so I decided to start off the fun with my new Fairy Sweet Jolinne. I used my beloved Creative Inspiration paint on her wings...very hard to photograph but it is so pretty in real life. I used pink highlights so in certain light they look pink and sparkly! Love it!

Flutter By Wednesday #98

I can't believe it's the last week of February! But for me, I have to say I'm happy as that means it's only about 2 months until Sam is home!! Yup, we're in the homestretch now! I am so ready to have him home~~miss him so much!
Okay, you didn't come here to hear about my whining so onto my creation.

I found out a bit late that it's a friend's birthday this Friday. She reads my blog sometimes but I'm hoping maybe she'll miss this post, or be "surprised" when she receives this even if she's seen it. Hehehe!

When I first saw the ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art stamps, this friend came to mind. They just seem like something she'd really like so I figured it was only appropriate to use one for her card!

I still am intimidated by these beautiful stamps but figure I'll just give them my best shot! I sort of went layer crazy on this card but love how it turned out. LOL!

Try It Out Tuesday # 56

Our challenge this week is Topsy Turvy! Use any holiday stamp but use it for a different holiday than it was meant for.

I just couldn't stop playing with the new Sampler Edition #3 by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD so I guess I didn't follow the rules of the challenge exactly. Hehe! 
I decided to use Oh Baby! At first I thought of a new baby card but that didn't seem to far off from what she would normally be used for, so then I decided to make a Happy New Year's card with her...as a New Year's baby!! (okay, a dear friend helped me come up with the idea but I LOVE the idea!)

I had a really hard time photographing it with the gold foil paper but hopefully you can see how beautiful and festive it came out.

Have you heard??

There's a new challenge blog in town!! Oh, Alice! My blogging friend, Jess, loves all things involving Alice in Wonderland so she took her love and turned it into a challenge blog! 

Their first challenge was posted on Saturday~~ Chapter One: Down The Rabbit Hole.  The first challenge is an inspiration one and one involving glam...how could I not play along!!

I must admit I was stumped at first as to what to do and then it hit me in the middle of the night that I could use Lost In Thought, as she could be glammed up and the mushrooms went along with the inspiration piece. 

So here's my creation~~  I stamped the mushrooms twice and popped one set up on pop dots for dimension. I also used the new Smooch Illuminate on the mushrooms, so pretty! I also used the new color of Smooch Spritz, Spun Sugar on the designer paper--hard to photograph but it has a beautiful shimmer now too.

Paper Sundaes #5-Glittery Spring

I loved the challenge at Paper Sundae's last Sunday but just now got a chance to play along. Their theme this week is A Glittery Spring. How fun!!

I thought the new images in Sampler Edition #3 by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD would be perfect for this challenge...but how to choose which one! LOL!

I finally decided on New Friends...such a sweet image! The designer paper I used has glitter on it--for the glittery part of the challenge and the buttons are sparkly too!
I also used this past Sunday's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #56. 
And for my weekend crew, I was going to ribbon on the inside and then it just wouldn't work so I guess I fail at this weekend's theme!

I couldn't get a good photo of the inside as it's such light ink, but the sentiment says: Your friendship is like a song of spring.

Has anyone else had problems with Google Reader today? I finally gave up on visiting blogs as it would only go so far and then say I didn't have any more posts to read. Just know I did try to visit you today!! LOL!
 
Also, question for ya~~ how do you decide what challenges to play along with? There are so many out there that I get overwhelmed and don't know what to choose! Do you pick your image first and then see what challenges it will fit or do you have your favorite challenges you play along with and then decide what to use?? Do you keep a list of the ones you want to play along with?? Tell me all about how you choose and keep track of challenges, please!

Is it really Thursday? This week is just a blur to me..partly because I haven't been sleeping well at night and then so darn tired during the day. Sigh. Here's my creation...using another image I already had colored and sparkled! I goofed on one corner but tried to make it not so noticeable by covering it with a snowflake. Simple again so it will be mailable without extra postage.
