Sweet November Pearl Tidepool

I've mentioned I've really been drawn to mermaids lately so when I saw these mermaids at C.C. Designs, I had to have them.

Amy, the artist behind these beauties and all the Sweet November stamps, is just so talented! She amazes me every time I visit her blog!!

When looking at challenges, I found that this week at Die Cut Dreams Challenge the theme is Life's a beach, so I think this will work for that!

For the clear "bubbles" I used my Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Pen. For the pearls I used my Viva Decor Ice White Pearl Pen. For the additional "baubles" I used my Viva Decor Emerald Green Gloss Pen. Gotta love Viva Decor!!

For her tail and top, I used my favorite, Creative Inspirations Paint in Sky Blue. I also added a touch of stardust pen to her hair. As one final touch I added Ocean Soul Smooch to her shell on her belt.

At first I thought this was going to be a very simple card and wasn't sure how I'd like it but once I got it done, I really {heart} it. Amazing what a few "extra" touches can do!

I also wanted to give a big welcome to all the new girls on the PMS DT!! You can see who they are on the PMS blog!! Looking forward to working with you all!!

Try It Out with a "T" 74

It's time for another Try It Out Tuesday (and Thursday)! This week Suzanne gave us a wonderful sketch to follow!

Be sure to check out Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, to see how you can play along and also to check out the other team members creations!

Here's the sketch~

There was no doubt what stamps I would choose from for this sketch, I had to ink up some more of the latest Elisabeth Bell for SCACD images! Did you order yours? If not, better head on over and get them!!

I decided to use cutie patootey Howdy for my card today. I wanted her to have some dimension so I stamped her twice and cut one image out and popped it up on pop dots.

Molly

Another super cute fairy from Victoria Case Art Designs! This cutie is named Molly. Isn't she so cute and fun? Love her!

I used a sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches, sketch #51 for my layout.
I debated about the flowers on the bottom of the oval but finally decided on some smaller Petaloo Dazzlers--on sale right now!. Of course I needed more sparkle so I added some Smooch Illuminate on her tights and arms, and to finish it off, I added stickles to the flowers and her wings.

I kept this card pretty simple to show off this gorgeous image but I really think this would be a perfect image to use Flower Soft with!!

I used my Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Pen on the vase but you could also use Diamond Glaze for a wonderful effect.

For some sparkle I added some slight touches with my Viva Decor Holographic Glitter liner. And then for some shimmer I used my Tsukineko Psst Spritz on the white cardstock--it really looks so gorgeous in real life, so pretty and shimmery.

Try It Out Tuesday #73

Our challenge today is to use weaving on our projects!! Be sure to check out how you can play along and all the other design team members creations--here!

While you're there, don't forget to enter the blog candy!! Remember the new Elisabeth Bell for SCACD release is this Friday!!

I was a little stumped at this challenge but then I thought about some of the suggestions Suzanne had given us~~weave ribbon--cardstock--scrappers floss--thread--etc for a background or an embellishment.

I took the easier route and used some ribbon to weave. I used an Elisabeth Bell for SCACD image, Susan

For my butterflies I used the Maya Road Mini Chipboard Butterfly set and sprayed one of them with the new Maya Road Mist--very nice mist!! I used Metallic Amethyst, really pretty! Can't wait to order more! For the other two butterflies I used my Smooch Spritz in Grape Burst and Silver Foil. I must say that the Maya Road Mist works much better on the chipboard.

LOL! I got this card all completed and then realized I forgot the weaved ribbon..maybe another day! LOL! At least I have a card to share!

I will be MIA for a few days as far as visiting blogs and commenting as Sam's mom is visiting us. I'll still have some goodies for you to look at though!!

Favorite stamp?

I joined in one swap this month on a yahoo group. I kept putting it off and putting it off and well, now I'm late. Sigh.

We were to make a card using our favorite stamp or stamp set. HA! How on earth would you choose a favorite? I finally just went eeny meany miney mo and decided to use a stamp I haven't used yet, Swiss Pixie Birgitta on a tree stump by C.C. Designs.

After I had the image colored I cut it out in a square, really wished I had done a circle..sigh, oh well, next time right?

I kept it fairy simple so it would mail nicely. To add some shimmer and sparkle I added Sundance Smooch to the spots on the mushrooms, chocolate copic glitter pen on the flowers, stardust pen on her hair and dress, and stickles on her wings.

Have a great day! I'll leave ya with a few photos of my sweet Daisy!

Butterfly and Berries Collage

Susana recently got in some gorgeous collage stamps from I Brake For Stamps. They are such gorgeous stamps but I'm not going to lie, they intimidate me. I know they shouldn't but they do.

Figure there's no way to get over that intimidation except by diving in and trying one out. Of course I had to have the Butterfly and Berries Collage. If I conquer it then I'm definitely ordering the Butterfly Collage set of 3 stamps.

I stamped my image with VersaFine Onyx Black and then let my image sit for a few days. Next I colored it with copics...I know I didn't color it exactly perfect but not too shabby for a first attempt.

It just seemed to cry for something more so I tried the cracked glass technique on it. (You can find a tutorial on it-here). I've tried this technique in the past and been unhappy with the results but I liked how this turned out. I wiped some brown ink over it when I was done with the embossing to try and emphasize the cracks more.
I had a hard time photographing this card, so even though you can't see the "cracked glass" it really is there, promise! You can sort of see the cracks in the first photo.

Oh my! I'm blushing...

It must be my week...check THIS out!

Bird Fairy

I haven't had a chance to ink up my Kraftin' Kimmie stamps (yup, Susana carries them!! so awesome!) much lately so I decided to remedy that and ink up Bird Fairy.
My inspiration for coloring this wonderful fairy came from the artist herself, Crissy Armstrong, here is her blog post with this fairy--isn't that gorgeous?? wow!
I know my coloring isn't as fabulous as hers but it was fun to try the "dots" for the background.
I used my chocolate copic glitter pen on the braids in her hair. For the "pearls" on the scalloped piece--which comes that way in the paper pack, totally cool--I used my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen. For her ribbons I used my fav Creative Inspirations Paint in Blue Ice. For some final sparkle, as we know I love sparkle, I used the gorgeous Viva Decor Holographic Glitter Liner on the veins in her wings.
I must say that I love how this card came out and it really renewed my passion for stamping/card making!! Don't ya love it when that happens?

    Friday Sketchers #106

It's no secret I love sketches so when I'm at a loss at what to create I almost always turn to a sketch challenge to get my mojo going.

I really liked this week's sketch at Friday Sketchers, Sketch #106.

Next was to choose the image! I decided on Emma as I haven't used her in a while and she's so sweet.

I paper pieced her shirt and pants. I wanted her ankle bracelet to stand out a bit more so I used my Viva Decor Pearl Pen on it. I couldn't decide on a sentiment so I filled that space with some Prima flowers. The biggest flower I also used some pretty Prima card jewelry flower centers. Then the other side looked naked so I added a Zva pearl swirl...doesn't that sound cool? pearl swirl...okay, I'm silly. To finish off the card I added some Kaisercraft pearls to the center of the other flowers.

    In the clouds...

I've had many requests for a tutorial on how I make my clouds, so I decided to try and get one made. I'm sure it's like anything, a million different ways to do it but this is how I do mine. ( you can click on the photos to make them larger)

First I stamp the base image and also make a mask of it. I used the new image, Lazy Days from Victoria Case for SCACD here.

If you're not familiar with making a mask, it is very simple. Stamp your image on a post it note or a regular piece of paper and then cut out the image--the post it note will stick on it's own and I use removable tape to hold down masks made out of regular paper. I also save all my masks so that the next time I need one for that image, I have it.

Next I place the mask over the base image and make sure it is secure and no tape is showing.

Then I take my stencil--which I've had forever--I'm thinking if you don't have a stencil, you could print out a cloud and cut it out as your stencil, and then I start at the bottom of my image and begin sponging. First I use SU Bashful Blue but you could use a lighter blue that is comparable.

As I go up towards the top of the image, I always flip the stencil over so that it's not the exact clouds over and over. I also try to be sure that the clouds extend a few inches beyond the image so they look okay when you cut the image out.

Next I take SU Brocade Blue--or a comparable darker blue--and lightly sponge over the top of the areas I just did without the stencil--just to define it a bit. I've also used a lighter purple for a different effect too.

And that's all I do. After that I remove the mask, color and finish like normal.

    Hope this helps a bit!

    Spots and Stripes

I thought Ladybug Tilda would be fun to use. She is just so adorable!

    Splashing by

I had such a wonderful visit with my Dad and family, seems so odd to not be getting together with them today! But they had to leave to visit some other relatives so now it's back to our summer routine.

While my Dad was here we went swimming for the first time this year. That got me in the "summer time" mood so I thought Lily at the beach would be fun to ink up today! And this cute set is even on sale!! You know you want it!

    I used a sketch I found at CPS-Card Sketches, CPS170

Isn't Lily just too cute?? I used Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Gel on her goggles to make them appear more realistic.

Welcome to the new team members~ Elaine, Lori, Jacquie and Alex!

Our challenge today was to create a Father's Day project~~ make them masculine and for a Dad. Be sure to check out Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, to see the other design team members creations and to see how to play along!

I decided to use Lazy Days from the latest Victoria Case for SCACD release for my card. I figure it could be a Father's Day card from a little girl. Yeah, that's what I'm going with. LOL!! I had Annabelle help me by writing inside the card for me..hehe! I also kept it fairly simple as I figure most Dad's wouldn't want alot of frills.
