Party Time Tuesday #9

**Please scroll down for the PMS Baby Shower Hop Post! Thanks!**

I needed a birthday card for a friend so I thought I'd check out my friend, Kristie's, challenge~ Party Time Tuesdays~ and see what the challenge for the week was. I was happy to find it was an anything goes week you just have to have a birthday greeting or sentiment on the front of your card!

I really should play along with her challenge more often as birthday cards are one of my downfalls. I always think about them and mean to make them but then never do.

While looking for a sketch, I found that I can also enter this into the Dutch Dare Card Challenge #83 for the week as it's anything goes.

I used the sketch from Unscripted Sketches #65~

Here's what I came up with~

supplies:
  • card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
  • stamps: Cupcake, Beary Special Accessories for sentiment,
  • paper: PTI cardstock,Basic Grey Urban Prairie, SU cardstock,
  • ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Bermuda Bay,
  • others: copics, Prima Daisy Crazy Destiny, Prima flowers, brads, SU Bermuda Bay marker,

Baby Shower Hop!

Are you having fun on our surprise baby shower hop for our sister makeup artist, Lisa? You should have hopped here from Dawn's blog, if you didn't, start at the beginning of the hop at the PMS Blog!

What a wonderful blessing to celebrate..a new baby!! Congratulations Lisa and we hope to "meet" your new blessing soon!!

For my creation I used  Kayleigh's Fairy and the sentiment is from PMS too!

I kept it fairly simple as I thought it just looked nice without a bunch of extras.

(I am so sad! I left this card overnight to dry and the marker I had outlined the image with after I cut it out bled and turn brown in the stickles! I've never had this happen. It doesn't look horrible but it isn't as pretty as it was. :-(  )

supplies:
Now you should continue on the hop to makeup artist Christi T.'s blog.  Don't forget to visit the expectant mom's blog too and leave her some love!!

Are you loving what you've seen so far? Just wait, it gets cuter and better! I am so in love with this fun Aurora 2 Collection!! Victoria Case for SCACD has really put some love and fun into these images!

Today I get to present the way too cute image, Walk in the Park, to you! How seriously cute is that lil' mousie? So, so fun!!

I stamped sweet Aurora and her mousie twice then cut one out and popped it up on pop dots for some dimension.

To make the lil' mousie even more cute I added some Koala Grey Ultrafine Flower Soft. I used Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Gel on the flowers on her hat and then put some Viva Decor Glitter Liner as highlights to them and the other flowers and butterfly.

Now you need to hop on over to my design team sister, Anki. Have fun on the hop and don't forget to head to Susana's store and order your cute Aurora 2 Collection today!!

Cupcake Inspriation Challenge #69

I was happy I found some time this week to play along with the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge~ #69! Look at the gorgeous cupcake this week~

So many elements to draw inspiration from...the gorgeous blue color with the white against it...the pretty flower...love this!!

When I sat down and looked through all my images, I found several that would work but finally decided on one of my new TAC sets, One of a Kind. It's a hostess set and oh so cute!

Surprisingly, not much sparkle and shimmer on this cutie (although the Cryogen White cardstock has a shimmer/sparkle to it). I added touches of stardust pens to the hair bows and the center of the daisy. Then I added some Moonlight Smooch to the petals.

I think I'm liking this layout, I seem to be using it alot lately...I need to look at more sketches! LOL!

supplies:
  • card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
  • stamps: TAC One of a kind,
  • paper: Cryogen white cardstock, Making Memories Flutter,
  • ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Bashful Blue, Palette Reflection Blue,
  • others: copics, nestabilities, Martha Stewart punch, SU ticket corner punch, Kaisercraft pearls, stardust pens, Smooch

Cupcake Cuties

Another cutie patootie set from The Angel Company, this one is called Cupcake Cuties. So very adorable!!

All the "pearls" were made using my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen.  For the dots on her dress, the cupcake liner and the candle, I used my Viva Decor Peridot Glitter Liner.

Danni's tip: Don't forget that the pearls are wet when applying the glitter liner! I totally smeared one but I was able to fix it most of the way! If you're not impatient like me, wait until they dry before moving onto the next step! LOL!

Marie Antoinette

This fun stamp from Kraftin' Kimmie (have you seen the new releases? I can't wait to get them!!)  was one of my latest purchases. I just love her dress..so fun! I sometimes think I'm in the wrong era as I would love to wear big, puffy dresses and all that jazz.
I used my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen to make a little pearl on the seal of the envelope. Then I used my Viva Decor Glitter Liner to highlight the roses on her and also on the added Prima flowers.

Viva Hop!!

Are ya having a wonderful time on this fun Viva hop? You should have arrived here from Judy's awesome blog! If not, please start at the beginning of the hop at Quixotic Paperie's Store Blog and hop along until ya return here!

Here's the fun reason behind the hop today~

Quixotic Paperie owned by the Fabulous Elaine and our Susana of SCACD have been partnering on efforts behind the scenes such that they consider each other International Sister Stores. They are combining efforts on certain mutual adventures starting with this awesome Viva Blog Hop which of course involves Yummy Candy!!  So make sure you stop at BOTH store Blogs HERE for SCACD and HERE for Quixotic Paperie. You will have a chance to win a set of 3 of the most popular Pens - (Ice White Pearl pen, Holographic Glitter pen and the Clear Gloss gel pen). So each Store Blog will offer up one chance to win the set. How Yummy is that?!!  The candy will run thru the 31st.
All you have to do is answer a question at each store blog - 1 entry at each STORE blog per person please!

Here's my creation for you today~ I used a stamp from Victoria Case for SCACD's latest release called New Home. I used my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen on the scallops, my Viva Decor Glitter Liner on the birdhouse and flowers, and some Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Pen on her shoes so they'd be shiny. To finish the card off I added some larger "pearls" under the image with my Viva Decor Cream Pearl Pen.

supplies:
Now you should continue the hop and hop on over to Jacquie's fantastic blog!

For all you overseas, remember that this stamp and Viva products are available at Quixotic Paperie!

A little birdie told me there will be more blog candy up for grabs starting Sunday...stay tuned!

Lookie! It's not a card!!

I usually shy away from "projects" but lately I've been wanting to do more than "just cards" so I tried the latest tutorial on SCS, Accordion Style Card Holder. I made this first one for me so I could see if I could do it...LOL! Instead of cards, I plan to use it to store some my digi stamps once I print them off.

It was really easy to make. I just used paper from my older than hills stash for it and the stamp is from The Greeting Farm. If you have any other questions, just let me know!

Under the Mistletoe Fairies for FBW #114

A little birdie has told me to keep your eyes peeled for a special blog hop on Friday the 23rd and there might be some candy involved too!!

Here's the sketch~

Here's what I came up with~
I used one of the latest Elisabeth Bell for SCACD releases called Flower Power. She just looks so carefree to me...ahhh...
For some sparkle, as you know I love sparkle, I used some copic glitter pens on her vines in her hair and also on her belt. On the flowers I used Viva Decor Glitter Liner.

Just for fun cards

So many times I have cards that are for either design team work or challenges, which I love but sometimes it’s fun to just make them~~just for fun, just because. These are some of those cards!

All the stamps are from The Angel Company. Many of you know I use to be a demo for TAC, was an angel for 4 years. I strayed away but I’m telling you, their latest catalog is just beyond awesome!

If you need an angel, let me know as several of my friends are angels~~ Michelle from my Flutter By Team was just named Angel of the year!!

Onto the cards~

This first one is from a retired set. I stamped the little bear twice and popped one up on pop dots for dimension.

supplies:
  • card size: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
  • stamps: TAC Beary Happy Day,
  • paper: SU cardstock, DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies stack,
  • ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Glorious Green,
  • others: copics, nestabilities,
The next card uses a brand new set, Fibi and Lilly. So, so cute!! I wanted to use my Prismacolors and OMS as they’ve been neglected lately. I also used my copics a bit too though~ just remember if you use both, do the copics first or the wax from the Prismacolor pencils will ruin your copics.

I have to say I had forgotten how much I love my Prismacolors. I had so much fun coloring this cutie!

My inspiration for the layout and design of this card was THIS card by Michelle.

Have a happy day!!

Trying something new

I think as crafters we should always look to improve our skills to try new things! I recently sat down and just truly looked and studied many copic coloring tutorials, some of my favorite crafters blogs and so on. Just to absorb some of the talent out there, to see what I can do to make my creations better, or maybe not better but different.

One of my most favorite crafters is Mary Giemza. I just am so in awe every time I visit her blog over her coloring skills and her creations.

I took the time to just play around and follow her tutorial on cutting out images and highlighting images.

I used a new Motivet stamp I won on the Friday Sketchers blog, Fairy with butterfly.

I still have lots of practice to do but this was a fun technique and one I can see myself doing often as I just love the way it makes your image look.

supplies:
Have you seen the new Kraftin' Kimmie stamps? No? They are so fun!! and Susana has them in stock ready to come to your house!! Be sure to check them out and order a few for yourself!

Dry Embossing with brass stencils and Crafter's Workshop templates

My design team sister, Marti, recently did an awesome video on using the cuttlebug to emboss using brass stencils and Crafter's Workshop templates on her cuttlebug. You can view it HERE.

It was an "aha" moment for me, I had never tried using the Crafter's Workshop templates!! Opens up a world of possibilities!!

So even though she did an awesome job on this with the cuttlebug, I thought I would show how to do it on the Big Shot, as I know it helps me to see a tutorial with the machine I have--so this is for all you Big Shot and Big Kick users.

I'll start with the brass stencils.

First I took some scrap paper and some cardboard to make a shim so that the stencil would be tight going through the machine. I ended up with one thinner piece of cardboard as a shim. The stencil I'm using is called Cherry Blossoms, I think it's so pretty!!

Next you are going to put the cardboard, then the stencil, the paper and then an embossing mat--I use the one by Spellbinders. Then you sandwich that with your cutting plates and crank through the machine. Once it's through the machine, there you have an embossed cardstock!

From there you can leave it as is for a background, add some Smooch Spritz,  or even swipe it with VersaMark and then dust on chalk or some of the fabulous micas Susana is carrying now! Lots of possibilities! Ohh, the Tsunkinkeo Psst Spritz and Maya Road Mists would be awesome too!

Next we have the Crafter's Workshop templates! Seriously, Marti, this is such a fabulous idea!

You do the exact same thing with these as with the brass stencils. First the cardboard, then the template, paper and then embossing mat. I only wanted a portion of the template to be embossed if you wanted the whole thing, you'd just find a piece of cardboard that was larger and a larger embossing mat.
The template I'm using is Cosmic Swirls.

You sandwich it between your cutting plates, crank it through and again, embossed cardstock for you to have fun with!

Now go order some brass stencils and some Crafter's Workshop Templates and have fun!!

Party Time Tuesday #7

This week's theme at Party Time Tuesday is Anything Goes Birthday! I thought that sounded easy enough so I wanted to play along.

Hope you're not sick of mermaids yet...hehehe!  I had to ink up another one of Kraftin' Kimmie's mermaids. Today I chose Cordelia as I thought she was so pretty!

I cut her out after I colored her and popped her up on some pop dots for some dimension. I also cut her little fishy friend out and popped him up too for more dimension.

For her pearls I used Viva Decor Light Blue Pearl Pen. For the fish and greenish blue shells I used Smooch Illuminate and for the stars, I used Viva Decor Glitter Liner. For her tail I used my favorite Creative Inspiration PaintC in Lavender.

Cupcake Inspirations #67

Another challenge that I've always bookmarked but never played along with is the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. Always the yummiest looking cupcakes to gather your inspiration off of...yummy!

This week I loved the cupcakes~

Seriously, how totally cute are those? and those of you who have been reading me for a while know I have a new "thing" for mermaids! I had to join in on this fun challenge!

I just got my Sweet November mermaids so I had to ink up one of those!! I thought that Fathom Calmsea would work well since she had so many stars on her to go along with the starfish on the cupcakes. And Lio is just too cute!

Lately I've been coloring the water with my copics on my mermaid cards but I thought I'd try sponging it today to see how it looked. It was so much fun to play around with the different colors of sponging!

For some "extras" I added a few bubbles with my Viva Decor Transparent Gloss Gel Pen, some sparkle with my stardust pen and also some sparkle to Lio with my Viva Decor Peridot Green Glitter Liner. For the stars I used my Viva Decor Holographic Glitter Liner. For her tail I used Creative Inspirations Paint in  Autumn Wheat.

Dear Friend

Another card I made for my friend. She wanted flowers on it so I thought this precious girl holding flowers would be good. Hopefully she thinks so too!!

I was inspired! by me!!

I am trying a new way of blogging, via Windows Live Writer. I know many of my blogging friends use it so I thought I’d try it. Bear with me if things aren’t quite right..hehe!

I also apologize for the mulitple posts today~ I was going to wait to post this but wanted to see how the live writer did so I decided to post it today. Please scroll down to see my Makeup 4 The Weekend Post and my Bellarific Friday Post! Thanks!

Anyhoo, I was inspired by my post here to use this quilt/patchwork style to make more than backgrounds!

See these cute little butterflies? How fun, no?

DSC_0005 DSC_0006 DSC_0007

Here’s how I did them and you can do it with punches, die cuts, etc!!

First I started with my piles  mountains of scraps, some punches and adhesive!

DSC_0008DSC_0009

I chose a piece of cardstock for my base.

DSC_0011

Next I started punching squares from my scraps of designer paper. When punching the squares, I found for your finished punch/die cut etc, you need to think of the size of the punches squares~~for example for the SU Top Note Die I used my 1 1/4 size square punch as it was a bigger die cut. For the SU Butterfly punch I used my 1 inch square punch…got it?

For my sample here I used my 1 inch punch. For those of you with kiddos, this might be a fun project for them to help with!

DSC_0012

Next you adhere all the squares to your base cardstock. This is much easier if you have a xyron machine, which I don’t. Just make sure they are stuck down really well.

You’ll end up with a piece like this.

DSC_0013

From here you can run it through your die cut machine or punch. If using punches, they need to be sturdier punches to go through all the paper. Also it helps to flip the punch upside down so you can see where you’re punching to line up the “patchwork”. Like this~

DSC_0015

For my butterflies, I punched another butterfly out of cardstock for a base. Then you could add glitter, stickles, Viva Decor products, diamond glaze, etc for extra “pop”.

DSC_0016

Here’s one more example using a Sizzix flower die~

DSC_0018

Hope this inspires you to create something fun today!

Ohhhh, and check out my design team sister, Kim’s tutorial today!! It rocks!! Check it out at Susana’s store blog, Follow Your Heart!!

Also be sure to check out new goodies at Susana’s!!
