Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge #82

Another challenge I always bookmark to play in is Stampin' Sisters in Christ but time always slips away from me. This week I made myself make time to play along as it's one of my favorite techniques that they are calling for, paper piecing!

I also thought it would be fun to use one of my new stamp sets, Little Frieda and Lulu- Mischief. If you haven't seen these stamps before, be sure to check out Lisa's new store, The Craft's Meow.

I colored this sweet Swiss Pixie, Violet with Key this weekend and thought she'd be fun to put onto a card this week. My bows are on my buttons--tied my scrappers floss into bows.

A challenge

It all started innocently enough. I commented on Lorie's awesome creation HERE. Then a few emails were exchanged and then those words were said--I challenge you to make one! Eeekkkkk!! 

I tried to ignore the challenge, nobody knew about it but Lorie and I. Hehe. But sadly it kept haunting me...I had been challenged...can't let that get away from me so here I am...taking on the challenge!

I used these directions from the talented Kristine. 

And here's what I came up with~ (note to self, when the tutorial says cardstock is harder to fold...listen!! I did have a hard time using cardstock for the drawers but I did it..they just aren't perfect)

I used an image I had colored earlier in the month, Supah Star by Tiddly Inks. I'm giving this to Annabelle so I thought she'd like having a fun girly on it. Plus her favorite color is purple so what's better than purple hair?

Pike Place Market

This past weekend my friend Jennie came up to visit! We "met" online right before Annabelle was born and have visited each other several times but now we're only a few hours apart so I'm excited that we can get together more often!

It was nice hanging out and talking crafty things but we also ventured to Seattle to Pike Place Market. I was hesitant to go, it was raining and such, but decided to take the plunge, so glad I did! We all had a great time!! Now I can't wait to go back! LOL!

Here's a few of my favorite photos from the market. I only took my small point and shoot this time but next time I'm taking my big camera as it's just a photographers dream there! So many colors and textures and action..it made me itch to get the camera out more!!

Blowing Kisses

I've had this cutie colored for a while now and decided she needed to go on a card! I think she is just way too adorable!! She's from the Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Spring Sampler 2011 and is named Blowing Kisses.


I paired her with my new My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Gertie papers and trims they are so pretty!!

I noticed that this is my "go to layout". Do you have a layout that you like so much that you go to it when all else fails??  

You might have visited SCACD this last week and noticed that Susana was on vacation celebrating her anniversary and doing website maintenance. Good news, she's back and open for business (carts will be up at 8 am PST)!! Plus there are new goodies to be had as well! Go forth and go shopping!!

Sweet Teddy Hugs

Thursday? really?

How on earth is it Thursday already? Wow!! 

I still don't have a creation for you. Sigh. I just haven't felt the greatest this week and my mojo is missing. I am so hopeful to get something created soon! I know I'll have some fun starting Friday as my friend, Jennie, is coming to visit and we're going to be getting crafty a bit!!

Anyhoo, while I find my muse again....tell me who inspires you in the crafty world? I know I have a list a mile long but wondered who inspires YOU!!

Are you a friend??

No creation today--yet. I was hit with a headache last night that is continuing into today and sadly I am not ahead in my posts. I'm hoping that it goes away soon as I have a TAC order coming today with lots of new stamps and I really, really want to use them!!

Hoarders Anonymous--is there hope for me?

Does this happen to anyone else? You want to create, but then you just sit there not knowing WHAT to create? Well that's my story on this Saturday night...so I finally decided to just have fun...hehe!

That's where the hoarding comes in. I am a very impulsive buyer...if it sparkles, is pretty or popular...I want it. And yes, I'm thinking of changing my name to Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka. LOL! Then once I get all these pretty things, I have the hardest time using them.


Buying kits is something I tend to do often--my favorites are from Taylored Expressions and Paper Makeup Stamps. Well, they just sit there. Occassionally I might pull them out but basically they sit. Now tell me, what good is that?

So tonight I just grabbed the top one, which happens to be from Paper Makeup Stamps-the JULY kit..yes, JULY!  I thought I'd just play around with it and see if maybe by some miracle I could use it up!!

So here's what I created with this kit (papers, ribbons, buttons, die cuts, pearls)~ My first card~ I almost didn't show this one as I had forgotten how SU markers and stickles react together..you can see the ugly black stained stickles on his wing..sigh. Lesson learned.

For my layout I used the sketch for this week at Sketchy Thursday, Sketch #122.

I used a sketch I had saved from the old Stamping Bella forum on SCS.

Here's my final card for today and the kit is mostly used up, so I feel good about that plus I used stamps I haven't used before!

Sunflowers

Just playing around with scraps of my TAC Penelope paper and my new Sunflowers stamp set. What a pretty set! I think it would really look awesome in watercolors...but someone else will have to try that as it is not a strong point of mine for sure! LOL!

Sharing Berries

Last Saturday I was invited to go to a monthly crafting group with Sparkle. I had so much fun and really enjoyed meeting everyone.

While there I colored several images. Now normally I'm horrible about using the images I color away from home but I made a promise to myself that I would use these images...so here's the first card using one of the images....yay me! LOL!


This is a cute digi I got from Victoria Case but I don't know if this cutie is still available or not. How fun would it be to spend some time with a friendly ladybug sharing a berry treat??

I hate to do it but I will be canceling my Feedblitz subscription in a few days. It doesn't make sense to me to pay for this service when blogger has a free version that I just discovered. I hope that you'll just switch over to that service and not leave me totally.

Faith Flowers

TGIF!! Are you ready for the weekend? Not sure what we're doing but weekends are always good!

Gettin' Creepin'

Do you ever see stamps/images and think, no way-those aren't for me. And then over time, you really begin to like/love the exact same images? Well that's what happened to me with the Creeper Crew from The Greeting Farm. 

I always told myself that they "just aren't my style" and moved on. Well, lately I've noticed that I'm drawn to cards using these images and also Tiddly Inks new Gothic Pin Ups. I am so intrigued by these images and finally decided to break out of my "norm" and start using these images. I think we all go through times as artists/crafters when we want a challenge, want to have some fun and do the unexpected...well these are my challenge, my fun for this stage in my craftin'. 

I was bummed when The Greeting Farm introduced the Creepin' Creeper Crew Collection 1 for one day only and I missed it. But then I got excited when I found a store that still had them so I ordered it! Fun! So here's my first "Creepin'" card! 

I used the sketch for this week's challenge(#29) at 4 Crafty Chicks for the starting point for my layout. It just sort of evolved into a bit different..hehe!
