Not feeling it...

I think all my creative juices are asleep. This week has been dreary and gloomy here in the Sun City and all I've felt like doing is sleeping. I had great intentions of making cards today but the couch is calling my name. I've already dozed all morning on there...LOL!
But I do feel good that I got one Magnolia card done and it was a Tilda I hadn't used. Several friends were able to get a few done too...be sure to leave them some love:
The sun is starting to peek out so hopefully it will stay and I can get back in the routine of leaving comments and all that fun stuff I love. Amazing how weather can affect a person so much!!
I also wanted to say that I've had several people ask where I get my Magnolia's...I get them from Roses on Paper. I just adore Summer who owns the store.
Hope you come back lots this week as I plan on having some fun...with PMS celebrating it's first birthday with a birthday bash and blog hop, Susana is getting some new goodies in and well...just fun stuff!!
Have a happy day!!

Stylish Tilda

Oh I am so sad right now, I had my post about completed ( a pretty long one too) and then I hit the wrong button and it all disappeared! I forgot about the undo button and exited out of it thinking it wouldn't have saved it that fast but it did...sigh. Don't ya hate when things like that happen??

I'm tired and sorry but don't feel like re-typing all that I had written so here's the basics~

Sketch is by Mercy, MTSC58.

Supplies:
I'll try to repost some of the "other" stuff on tomorrow's post...good night blogland!

Messy Face Belle

** Please be sure to scroll down and see the other posts from today!!!**

I just had to share my silly girl. She usually eats lunch at school but today she wanted to eat at home so she chose ravioli. Silly messy face girly!

But what really cracked me up is that she colored this image last night~ The story with this image is that this girl ate a hot dog, she didn't like ketchup but they put ketchup on her hot dog anyway so she got a messy ketchup face.

And here's some other images she's colored lately. So fun to me to see her imitate my artwork--although much longer and she'll be better than me by far!!

Here's the inspiration photo again:

Here's what I came up with~ I sat and stared at my card for the longest time, tried different papers and embellishments and then decided I really liked it best as a simple card..I just thought it looked so pretty with the focus on Shaela Fairy~~what do you think?

The theme for my "themed" weekends this week is Magnolia's! If you've got 'em, won't you play along?? Even if it's just one card, at least you're using those stamps, right??
I might not have many cards up until Sunday as I'm hoping to go to a friends tomorrow but I do hope to have some Magnolia cards to share!
I am not sure who all of my pals is playing along but I think Nancy and Kristie and Kimberly were all in so be sure to visit them and leave some love! And leave me a comment if you join in!!

Have a Boot Scootin' Day

On the Inky Impressions yahoo group we're having a mingle (send one card, get one card). I thought it would be fun to ink up Cowgirl Lili and also use my new Martha Stewart paper...it just screams cowgirl/cowboy!

Sparkly Thursday's #8--Stickles

Here we are at the last of my Sparkly Thursday's! I had so much fun sharing all my sparkly goodies...hope you all enjoyed them too!
This week the product focus is on stickles! I must say this is probably the one sparkly product that I use the most.

A few things about stickles:
  • it is a glitter glue
  • comes in LOTS of colors and styles~ regular stickles, Tim Holz Distressed stickles, glitz stickles and ice stickles (here is the link to Ranger that shows them all)
  • I tend to use the regular and glitz stickles the most as the distressed ones are a bit "chunky" for most of my projects but I do like them too!
  • only downfall that I have found really is drying time--but I deal with this by always adding the stickles last and leaving overnight or at least a few hours before moving/touching
  • applies very easily
I catalog stickles on a sheet of cardstock with their names so I can see for easy reference (and since I'm Susana's DT--I first marked the ones I got from her for my reference)

These are some of my most favorites! I must say Diamond and Stardust are the ones I use the most.

You can see projects I've used stickles on: HERE!

Thanks for joining me the last 8 weeks on Sparkly Thursday's!

Oh so sweet! FBW #94

I rarely order stamps that I can't "see" the whole kit/set before I buy as I've ended up with some that I wasn't that fond of but I took a chance and ordered the SugarPlums Spring Kit 2010 from C.C. Designs (All That Scraps store). Oh my word!! I would recommend this CUTE kit to anyone who likes any of the SugarPlums C.C. Designs stamps...way, way too adorable! I must say I am VERY happy I ordered it!
This sweet lil' butterfly was in the kit...isn't she just a doll?? I decided to make her a tent topper card following these directions. Only it's a tent topper side card as I was distracted when I put the topper on..LOL!

Try It Out Tuesday #52--Bookmark

Our challenge today for Try It Out Tuesday is to make a bookmark! Who doesn't need a bookmark? I know I need some so I was happy about this challenge!
Be sure to visit Susana's store blog, Follow Your Heart, to see how you can play along and also to see the other team members creations!
I used Daisy from the Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Sampler Edition #2 for my bookmark. I just think she is so cute!!
I made this a bit larger than I normally make bookmarks because I wanted a bookmark that would stand out so I could find it easily. I also used a strip of magnetic tape on the bottom so it will stay put!

this shows the magnets, sorry for the blurry photo

supplies:
  • bookmark size: 3 1/2 x 5
  • stamps: Daisy,
  • paper: SU cardstock, some from my scraps,
  • ink: Memento Tuxedo Black,
  • others: copics, SU border punch, SU marker, magnetic strips,

Blue Eye Fairy

I admit it..I'm in love. Of course with my hubby but also with the Sweet Pea Stamps- ching-chou kuik's Fantasy Art Stamps. Oh my word. These are just GORGEOUS!! I purchased two sheets of them and will be ordering more as I can.
I must admit though after getting them, now comes the intimidating part--actually using them and coloring them!
Especially when there are such AWESOME artists out there like, Randi, Angela, Alex, Traci, Debby and so many others who do such amazing things with these stamps, wow!
I just hope I can do these gorgeous stamps justice. Here's my first attempt using Blue Eye Fairy. I made a few mistakes coloring but overall I'm pleased. I kept the card simple as it will take me a while to figure out how to incorporate these images onto more involved cards.

Once again my colors went wonky--the cardstock is really more of a magenta than red and matches the colors I used.

Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential #15

This weeks challenge at Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential is to~ Let the sunshine in~ use bright colors or mostly yellow on your creations.
I have to giggle as there use to be a time when I didn't like yellow or orange. My friend Carla, helped me "see the light" and get so I like those colors but I still think of her everytime I use them as they are her favorites.
I didn't think I liked the Lulu line at Stamping Bella when I first saw them but they have grown on me and I was excited to receive a few in the mail today from my friend, Jennie (thank you so much) so I had to ink one up!!

supplies:
I don't know that I'm going to get any more cards done this weekend as I have errands to run tomorrow but thank you to all you who stopped and left comments and thank you to those who played along!! Next weekend I'm thinking it's feeling alot like a Magnolia weekend......if anyone wants to join me again!
Ohhhh, don't forget that tomorrow is a new challenge at Paper Sundaes!!

Crazy 4 Challenges #21- PINK! and The Diedrich Dare #19

I had to play along with the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge for the week--to use the color pink!! I LOVE pink!!!
And hold onto your hats, I actually was able to get another challenge done with this card! Whimsical Wednesday's~The Deidrich Dare #19!
Here's Nikolas' sketch~
And here's what I came up with~~ the colors are a bit off, it's not black cardstock but chocolate chip brown...

supplies:
I am having so much fun with my Stamping Bella stamps! I hope to be able to create one or two more cards before the weekend is done. Thanks for stopping by and a special "mwah" to my friends who played along with me and made my heart so happy!!

Daisybella

I'm not sure I've ever inked this sweet Bella up for myself...that seems like a crime, doesn't it??
I thought Daisybella would be fun for this week's Friday Sketchers sketch. I didn't follow it exactly but it was a good starting point!

Here's what I came up with~ I stamped the flower three times, cut out two of them and popped up on pop dots for dimension.

Stamping Bella Weekend!

As I mentioned in my last post, I have decided to try and do "themed" weekends when I can so that I can USE the stamps that I buy instead of just collecting them.
There are so many challenges out there in blogland that I love to participate in but lately, I go and find a challenge and then can't decide on what stamp to use! LOL! Hopefully my themed weekends will help me with that! We'll see!
I'd love for you to join me at any time..just leave me a comment so I can check out your creations!!
So for my first theme I chose Stamping Bella! I {heart} Stamping Bella! I think they were my first stamps I purchased that weren't TAC. And I keep purchasing them..just love 'em!
I do NOT expect you all to comment on all my cards on the weekend as I plan and hope to have quite a few and I know it's hard to find time to look and comment so no worries there!
Okay, enough blabbing...onto the creating!! I first found the sketch at CCEE Stampers soo fun looking that I just had to try it!!
Here's what I came up with~

I invited a few friends to play along this weekend and had a few tell me they were joining in...be sure to stop by and leave them some sistah love!!

Makeup 4 The Weekend #13

This week's challenge for Makeup 4 The Weekend is a sketch challenge!
Be sure to check out the PMS Blog to see how you can play along and to see what the other makeup artists came up with.
Here's the fun sketch~
Here's what I came up with~ I am SO happy that I was able to get this to work as this is a digi stamp!! A very special one, called Baylee. You can read more about it here and then you can purchase this wonderful digi stamp here for such a wonderful cause.
I had printed this image last Saturday or Sunday with intentions on using it for a post Monday. I didn't get to it and so it sat all those days which I guess helped it as I didn't get much smearing, woo-hoo, and I used my copics to color it.
I didn't add a sentiment as I just wasn't sure what I wanted to put there.

supplies:
I'm looking forward to a weekend of stamping. I decided to start having "themed" weekends for myself so I can use some of the stamps I have! This weekend is a Stamping Bella weekend! I have a few friends playing along too~~would love to see your bella creations too!!

Digi stamps....any suggestions?

I have tried several times at using digi stamps and well, my results haven't been all the great...to me. I have been really resistant to the digi stamps as I just love to hold a stamp in my hand...and will probably continue to be that way BUT there are more and more companies going to all digi...which makes me sad...but anyhoo, does anyone have any suggestions on using digi stamps?
My ink usually smears no matter what coloring medium I use. I did have better results with images with larger open areas and images I let sit overnight.
I'm not totally thrilled with digi but figure I should at least make myself knowledgeable on them.
So...any tips or advice on digi stamps??

FBW #93--finally and A Touch of Christmas #3

**Please be sure to scroll down for my Sparkly Thursday post! Thanks!**

I finally finished up my Flutter By card for the week. This week's challenge is to use embossing, any kind.
I love this image, Mary, from PMS. Isn't she gorgeous? I got the idea for the flower soft on her flowers from a card by Lisa Kind on the PMS blog.

Supplies:
For my A Touch of Christmas card I decided to use a cute Swiss Pixie, Heidi with Ornament~ I just love the Swiss Pixie and Swiss Miss line from C.C. Designs..so cute!! Be sure to check out Kimberly's creation today too!

Sparkly Thursday's #7- Shimmerz

Only one more week of Sparkly Thursday's left! I hope you have enjoyed these as much as I have--it's been fun to get sparkly!
Today's product focus is Shimmerz

Shimmerz Paints has a blog that has lots of inspiration and tips!

A few things good and not so good about Shimmerz from humble me~

The good~
  • lots of fun colors
  • reasonably priced
  • easy to use
  • lots of sparkle
The not so good~
  • there is a slight odor
  • for me, these tend to dry up but if you add just a bit of water they do mix back up an work fine
  • sometimes even after mixing there are "chunkier" areas of sparkle than others
I really do like shimmerz but tend to grab my Inspirations Paint more often now. But like any sparkle product there are times that I just want shimmerz! It's all in your preference.

Just like my other sparkly products, I always paint a bit on a piece of cardstock with the name so I have a reference of what it looks like.

To apply shimmerz, I just shake it up really well, mix it with my brush well and then apply with a small paintbrush. It can be applied alone or over most coloring mediums. It cleans up easily with water.

This is the image I was working on yesterday that I didn't like ( I love the image, just didn't like the way I colored her--but now I do like her, go figure)--I have used 4 different colors of shimmerz on her...it really does add a nice sparkle.

Be sure to come back next week for my last Sparkly Thursday on Stickles!
