Paper piecing Danni style #2

I did a paper piecing tutorial ages ago but lately I've had so many kind comments on my paper piecing--I think it's my favorite technique--that I decided to do another "refresher" tutorial, everyone does techniques different, this is just "Danni Style".

The image I am using is Flower Cheer, which is by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD

First you stamp your image as you normally would.

My next step is to pick out the designer paper I want to use. For this image I want to paper piece her pants for fun. I tend to look for smaller patterns on smaller areas. I chose a fairly simple designer paper from the Basic Grey Jovial paper pad.

Then you stamp your image again onto the designer paper. Since I'm only paper piecing her pants, I don't worry about the rest of the image. Always good to have some scrap paper under your stamping area.

My next step is to cut out the image on the designer paper. Only worry about the part of the image you're working with--in this example, the pants.

Next I take a black marker and lightly go around the edges of the image I cut out so that there are no "white edges", this makes the paper piecing blend better when you adhere it to the original image. I set the cut out image aside to let the marker dry.

I then color the image. I use copics but you can use whatever medium you use. It's personal preference as to whether you color the soon-to-be paper pieced part. I usually at least go around the edges with a similar color in case my cutting wasn't exact.

The final step is to adhere the paper pieced part to the original image. I usually use either the Zig 2 Way Glue or the Quickie Glue Pen for extra small pieces.

Ta-da! Now you can complete your card as you want. For a bit of added dimension to the paper pieced, you can add some shadows like you normally would with similar colors.

Trixie-that darn pushy monkey- helped me finish the card so here's the finished result~
