Re-focusing

Seems like every so often I need to stop.think.re-focus.  I tend to get so carried up blogging--just to blog that I tend to get burned out and then I rush through my cards and projects and end up not liking them. I don't know why I do it, but I do.

I also tend to get lazy. I have so many supplies, so many stamps but yet I grab the same things over and over.

So I took some time, re-evaluated things and decided that I don't need to be in a rush. I can take my time. I can focus on doing things that make me happy, that excite and challenge me.

I've taken several online classes and I've noticed that I get really excited about them and then, once again, all the things I learned get pushed to the back burner and I move on.

I am decided that I need to really get my money's worth out of them all and actually USE the classes! Try the techniques, practice the coloring, try the new cards, etc.

I also took one more online class this week, Clean & Simple Cardmaking. I'm always in awe over CAS cards but they intimidate me so I figured why not challenge myself to learn more about them. I'm so glad I did!! I loved this class and am saving my pennies to take the 2nd one!!

With all this rambling, my hope is that I can slow down, enjoy the creative process, use my supplies and knowledge and have fun!! Hopefully this will come through in my creations that I share and will hopefully inspire you to do the same!

This also has me thinking about commenting on blogs. It is something I really do enjoy doing but sadly, it takes me 2-3 hours a day if I leave comments for all the blogs I enjoy. I think I am going to designate a few days a week to comment and then the rest of the time I can be creating. Just know that I do look and enjoy blogs daily, just might not always be able to leave a comment!

Thanks for stopping by today--I really do appreciate all of you who take time to visit my blog!!From Millan.Net

I am so with you Danni! with everything else going on in our lives, crafting should be fun and our little escape - not something we have to do to order by a certain time. And I totally understand about the commenting, with an internet connection that is far less than speedy it can sometimes take me 5 minutes to leave 1 comment .. .. and apart from being frustrating it's also impossible to get around everyone. Like you, I look and admire, but can't always comment, but I had to let you know that you are not the only one feeling this way!
love and hugs, annie x

Looks like you have taken a long think, Danni and planned everything out. Looking forward to your C&S cards.

Well said, Danni! I think we all tend to do the same thing. If it's any consolation, I have never gotten the impression that you have rushed on any of your creations. I find them inspiring and creative. I don't blame you for cutting back. You have young children, and yourself to take of.

Are you in my head? I swear!! I woke up Monday with the same feelings, I feel like I need to post daily, etc. I have given up - given myself the leasure to do what I want when I want and it's been a freeing week. Today was the first time I stamped and I didn't even photograph them!! I love your blog, and I too hope that in my freed up time I'll be able to visit and comment more!!

yep, sounds good! with my hands, i create at a slow pace and then it takes me some time to colour each image and make a card with it, so commenting kind of gets pushed to the back for me. with flare ups, i'm too sore to make the rounds to comment, especially after i spent my energy on my cards. lucky for me, i don't get a lot of traffic. lol. here's a tip - allow yourself to just be...

I'm there too GF! I really got burned out over the holidays, took a break, and then could hardly get restarted. I really get down about the commenting. It does take hours to try to visit and I can barely get everyone covered. One of my biggest desires when I started blogging was to give back as much encouragement as I got and timewise that's getting harder and harder to do. Makes me sad. Feel like a lot of my projects are lacking too because of pressure or lack of creative time. I wish you luck with your plan!

I understand what you are saying! This is supposed to be fun but at times I think, oh no..haven't posted in awhile. But I have just come to the conclusion that it is not something I HAVE to do. So now I just do it when I WANT to. I love when you visit and comment but you need to just do what you need to do for you! Otherwise it will take the JOY out of it.
Take care and happy crafting!

I completely sympathise with everything you've said here Danni! I used to spend hours commenting but now I've cut it right down. I no longer belong to any DTs where commenting is required and I visit my friends (like you!) every 2 or 3 days. I actually use the extra time crafting!
