Dutch Dare Card Challenge #145

I’m having fun creating this week! Today I thought I’d play along with the current Dutch Dare Card Challenge which is to use your favorite things!

I used a few of my favorite things~ stickles, butterflies, the color pink and paper piecing!! I also tried out the Make It Crafty cardstock for this image, as a friend was kind and sent me some to play with. It was okay but I didn’t really like it as much as I did the Taylored Expressions Choice Cardstock.

Locks of Love and a new Lego set

When we were in El Paso, Belle had a friend who donated her hair to Locks of Love. Unknown to us, Belle had set her sights on doing the same. A few weeks ago she told me what she wanted to do so we looked into the requirements--hair has to be at least 10 inches long and then today we went and she had her hair cut and donated!

I’m so proud of her!! She looks so different without her long hair but oh so cute with her new do!

And then while we were out, Matthew used his Christmas money and got a new HUGE Star Wars Lego Set, he’s so excited to build it and play with it~

Little Miss Muffet Challenge #25

Belle won a free digi stamp some time ago from Little Miss Muffet stamps and I just discovered they have a challenge blog so I thought I’d play along--and yes, I have permission from Belle to use her digi!

The current challenge is “Anything Goes”. I think I can handle that! I was happy to find Rosemary in my already colored pile of images.

Here’s what I came up with~

Christmas Card Challenge #4

Woo-hoo! I finally caught up to the current challenge on the Christmas Card Challenge Blog!

Week #4

Here’s my card using a Memory Box stamp I’ve had for at least a year or longer and haven’t used, called Ornament Penguin--although I’m wondering if I cataloged it wrong as it looks like a mistletoe penguin to me, LOL!

ornamentpenguin1

ACK! as I was making this I discovered I’m almost out of red cardstock! With Valentine’s Day coming, that seems like a crafty emergency to me!

Because I’m nosey…

I was going to make a “favorites” post today only to discover that Blogger is not my friend and won’t bring up all my posts for each month. Sigh.

I store all my photos of my cards/creations by Stamp Company on my computer so that wasn’t helpful for finding the ones from each month during 2011. A friend said she stored hers by month.

So my question to you, because I’m nosey…how do you store your photos of your creations on your computer??

I’ll be back soon with another Christmas card..for the current challenge..yay!

Christmas Card Challenge #2

Onto the second Christmas Card Challenge~

Week #2

Here’s my card using Tis-the-season-to-be-jolly-abella! I know that some of my holiday/winter cards are super simple--not many embellishments-but it helps to make them easier to mail.

One of the challenges I always, always bookmark but have never played along with is Sparkle’s Christmas Card Challenge. Well I decided that I’m going to do my best to play along for 2012!!

So even though I missed the first few challenges, I’m doing them anyway, just so I can be caught up! I just won’t enter them since the time is up.

The first one was~

Week #1

Here’s what I came up with for Week #1 using a cute digi from Whimsy and Stars Studio-Mabelle RO called Twinkling Angel.

Love Letter Kaylee

I still had my Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients kit on my craft table from my last card so I thought I’d use it again but this time with my Some Odd Girl stamp, Love Letter Kaylee, that I bought some time ago and haven’t used!

I kept this card pretty simple but sometimes I think simple is good--I  tend to overthink embellishments and layouts so many times.

Bookmarks

I made these for a friend for Christmas as she loves to read and also loves books vs an e-reader. I kept them all pretty simple so they’d work well in a book and not be bulky.

For this first one I was really pleased because I tried an experiment, I stamped the image with VersaFine and then let it dry for a few days and then used my copics and it worked pretty well.

I used THIS tutorial at SCS for this corner bookmark~

Love the Lodge!!

The Great Wolf Lodge that is!! We went to the Lodge for a summer get-away and we loved it so we gave the kids the choice of either going back or getting presents…they chose to go back so on Tuesday we left for the lodge and returned last night.

We all had such a fabulous time!! Truly, if you ever have the chance--go!! Christmastime at the lodge is magical!! So many pretty decorations and lights and they even make it snow inside!!

DSC_0002

DSC_0047

Santa was also there and I must say he was the best Santa ever!! Belle told him she wanted an American Girl Doll (even though the lodge was our gift--Santa still is bringing gifts)…and this Santa told her what nice dolls they were and all the accessories and well, let’s just say--I believe!!!

DSC_0031

Anyhoo, since we were away I don’t have any new creations to share today but I’m going to get started on something tonight!!

Hope your holiday season is truly magical and happy!! I’ll be back soon with something crafty to share!

Tilda with Lace Jeans

I am finally feeling like crafting…been in a bit of a slump and forcing myself to do some but today, I finally really feel like it.

One of the paper choices that was mentioned in my question below was Taylored Expressions Choice cardstock so I thought I’d use one of my TE Key Ingredients Kits, April 2011 and try it out.

I have been itchin’ to use my Magnolia stamps as I haven’t used them lately so I picked one of my last purchases, Tilda with Lace Jeans.

tildawithlacejeans1

I really liked this paper, very smooth and easy to blend and easier to cut the image out. Still have a few more papers to try before I decide though.

Cuddly Christmas

Even though I have decided not to send out Christmas cards this year (I’m doing a New Year newsletter/photo thingy), I thought I might make some to add to next years stash.

I’ve always liked Heather’s sketches but don’t think I’ve ever played along so I decided to change that today! I am using her sketch from this week, Sketch #161.

heathersketch161

This was a true challenge for me as I don’t use many small images--I have them, just don’t seem to use them much. I finally decided on a TAC stamp set, Cuddly Christmas. I’ll admit, it’s been hard for me to use my TAC sets since they closed but I finally decided enough is enough! I have them might as well use them!!

Ohh…and for you TAC friends/customers, if you haven’t heard already, there is a new company, Red Rubber Designs that will be selling some TAC stamp sets in the new year! yay!!

Onto my creation~

I know it’s been asked before..

I know these questions have been asked all over blogland a zillion times but I’m always curious to see if people have found a new product/technique/etc. so I’m asking again~

1. What is your favorite paper to use with copics?  I have been using PTI’s but am finding it so thick when I want to cut out an image so I wondered what other papers people use and get good results with.

2. What is your favorite ink to use with copics? I use Memento but this past weekend I saw a friends stamped images with Brilliance and wow, they looked awesome so I’m just curious.

Thanks so much!!

I’m trying to get crafty today. I am just having the worst time lately, but I thought maybe if I just start that I’d get back into the groove.

Hugs to you all!

Happy Days

I was in the mood to do some paper piecing and this cute stamp, Happy Days from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD screamed out to me so I just had to ink her up!

I’m starting to sort of find my holiday spirit so I made her a bit more “holiday-ish”, LOL! Now if I could find just a smiggen more holiday spirit and creativity mojo I’d be set!

Friends

When The Angel Company closed there were still stamp sets on my wishlist, several from Mabelle RO. I was excited when she started offering a few of these images, in smaller sets-in rubber!, at her Etsy Shop.

Today I’m inking up, Friends. Such a sweet little girly duo!!
